Join Amelia, Kerry and Fletcher from the KidsMatter team for the first webinar in the Keeping mental health in focus series. 

Keeping mental health in focus is easy when you are participating in KidsMatter Early Childhood.By attending this webinar, educators from services or schools registered as official KidsMatter Early Childhood participants will be working towards the following professional learning topic outcomes:

  • Gain understanding of mental health difficulties in early childhood, including common signs and symptoms.
  • Understand the considerations, including the advantages and disadvantages, to a mental health diagnosis and the effects this has on families.
  • Have knowledge and skills to recognise and support children who are experiencing mental health difficulties.
  • Have shared understanding of the educator role and its boundaries in addressing the needs of children experiencing mental health difficulties.

About our Presenters

Amelia Joyce
By combining a social work and education background with a Master of Digital Media, Amelia has taken her passion for social justice, well-being, storytelling and all things creative online. She is intrigued and inspired by digital media. Especially how it helps us communicate, connect and continue to learn and understand more about each other and the world.

Kerry Bidwell
Kerry has a Clinical Psychology background and is passionate about evidence-based approaches to mental health promotion and workplace wellbeing. She has managed large-scale public health initiatives and gained extensive mental health and early childhood experience as a consultant, clinician, project manager and trainer across the health, education and disability sectors.

Fletcher Curnow
Fletcher is the current KidsMatter Health and Community Project Officer at the Australian Psychological Society. He has recently completed his masters in community psychology and has a strong research and practice interest in children’s mental health and wellbeing. In his previous roles working at primary and secondary schools he has helped develop and coordinate programs and workshops on leadership, mindfulness, building community partnerships, mentoring, working with CALD communities, perfectionism and anxiety.
